MOSAIC Concept at the workshop MSLOOP 2.0: Key element for the new solar thermal energy plants

Coordinator Cristobal Villasante will present MOSAIC Concept at the MSLOOP workshop at the “MSLOOP 2.0: Key element for the new solar thermal energy plants” scheduled for the 9th July 2019 in Madrid. MOSAIC will have the possibility to share their experience with other sister projects in line with the clustering activities developed in the H2020 CSP clustering framework. More information about the workshop are available here.

MOSAIC at Sustainable Places 2019 conference

MOSAIC consortium will participate at the Next generation of Concentrated Solar Power technologies workshop in the framework of the Sustainable Places 2019 conference. Fabrizio Perrotta (AMIRES Project and Product manager) will present the innovative MOSAIC Fixed hemispherical semi-Fresnel concentrators concept plant to the clustering workshop organised by sister project NEXTOWER. Programme of workshop is available here.

MOSAIC M30 meeting and CSP plant visit

MOSAIC M30 meeting has been held in Denmark at Aalborg CSP office on the 2nd, 3rd and 4th April 2019. The first day was dedicated to the subsystems development, management and exploitation tasks with a short training related to the proposed exploitation methodology. During the second day, the discussion was around the ongoing prototype development and the last day we had a chance to visit a biomass and CSP combined plant which serves as a district heating for Aalborg city. Great experience! For this reason, we would like to congratulate our partner CSP Aalborg for the excellent meeting organisation!

MOSAIC EAB and M24 meeting

MOSAIC External Advisory Board and M24 meeting have been held in Prague at the Technology Center on 6th, 7th and 8th of November 2018. The first day was dedicated to the EAB meeting with the EAB Members, Mr. Juan Ignacio Burgaleta (Independent consultant, ex SENER), Marcel Bial (ESTELA), Jesús Fernández (PSA-CIEMAT), Gilles Guigan (Auroville). EAB members had the chance to be updated on the project status and they provided excellent recommendations in person and through a specific questionnaire. The second day was dedicated to the technical WPs parallel sessions and the presentation to their solutions. The third day was dedicated to the prototype implementation, administrative, dissemination and exploitation activities. The next project meeting will be hosted by Aalborg CSP in Denmark at the beginning of April 2019.

MOSAIC concept presented at SolarPaces2018

Coordinator Cristobal Villasante presented the MOSAIC concept at the SolarPaces2018, through the oral presentation “MOSAIC, a new CSP plant concept for the highest concentration ratios at the lowest cost” (IK4-TEKNIKER and CENER) in the Central Receivers System session. A large and interested audience showed their interest and curiosity for the concept. Furthermore, the poster “Analysis of convective heat losses for a solar bowl helical receiver” from POLITO, CENER, and IK4-TEKNIKER, has been published in the poster session of the conference. Both publications will become the official reference material course of MOSAIC, which will be updated during the project lifespan.

Study visit to Auroville community in India

The community of Auroville in India hosted Cristobal Villasante (MOSAIC Coordinator) and Iñigo Pagola (researcher) in order to study in detail system operation based on fixed spherical concentrators as the MOSAIC concept is. The system in India has been operating in a daily basis for 18 years providing steam at 150ºC for cooking menus for 1000 people every day. The system used Terminol 66 as HTF during the first years but for the last 10 years they have been producing saturated steam at 2 bars directly at the receiver. The operation of the system along a day can be seen in this video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ixy719TNRcY.

MOSAIC Consortium wants to thank the Auroville community for sharing their knowledge.

MOSAIC at the Second H2020 Coordinators’ Day Workshop on CSP

On 26th June 2018, the Innovation and Networks Executive Agency (INEA) hosted the second H2020 Coordinators’ Day Workshop on Concentrated Solar Power. The aim of the workshop is to investigate potential synergies between projects in the area of Concentrated Solar Power with ongoing RIA, IA and CSA projects. MOSAIC project development has been presented to the audience and MOSAIC representatives participated in the group discussions to identify potential synergies and overlaps.

The third newsletter of the H2020 Projects on Concentrated Solar Power is online!

The third issue of the “H2020 Projects Bulletin on Concentrated Solar Power” newsletter has been published.

The joint Newsletter was launched in May 2017 by a joint initiative of the consortia of the EU projects CAPTure, MinWaterCSP, MOSAIC and WASCOP.

The issue includes updates from the involved European projects, a news about the launch of the SOLWATT project and an analysis of the CSP European environment in AMIPLEXUS.

MOSAIC M14 Review Meeting

A review meeting about MOSAIC has been held on 11th April 2018 in Brussels hosted by AMIRES and TEKNIKER at the CZELO (Czech Republic Liason Office for R&I projects). The project has been reviewed in his technical, dissemination and management progress by INEA and European Commission representatives supported by an external reviewer. A specific exploitation session named Innovation Radar Pilot action has been dedicated to MOSAIC to identify potential exploitation routes for the project.
