Two important dissemination activities have been finalised in the last months: the peer-review paper “Low-Cost Solar Electricity Using Stationary Solar Fields; Technology Potential and Practical Implementation Challenges to Be Overcome. Outcomes from H2020 MOSAIC Project” have been published in February 2020 in ENERGIES to present the potentialities of the Low-Cost Solar Electricity Using Stationary Solar Fields. An important article “Outcomes from H2020 MOSAIC Project” has beenpublished in the Helioscsp specialised online magazine. More news related to MOSAIC results will come soon so stay tune!
MOSAIC prototype is currently under construction in Sanguesa (CENER). The foundation has been finalized and other parts of the prototype (mirrors and structure) are currently under construction. In the coming months, we will update the CSP community to the development of the MOSAIC prototype and concept, especially during the testing site. Stay tune!
Also this year, MOSAIC Consortium presence was relevant in the SolarPaces2019 conference in Daegu, South Korea. Dissemination Leader Fabrizio Perrotta was presence at the CSP H2020 Projects booth where the MOSAIC 3D Concept video were running. Furthermore, the oral presentation Design and Analysis of a Helical Receiver for Solar Bowl Systems was presented during the Emerging Concepts plenary session by Mattia Cagnoli (POLITO) and Coordinator Cristobal Villasante explained the MOSAIC concept to many interesting participants at the poster session. We are looking forward to share the final project results next year in SolarPaces2020!
MOSAIC Second review meeting was held on 4th and 5th September 2019 at CENER premises In Sarriguren (Spain). First day it was dedicated to the preparation to all presentations for the official Review meeting. The second day was dedicated to the official Review meeting with MOSAIC Project officer Bernardo Abello, where Consortium presented the status of the project. Furthermore, we have also visited in the afternoon the Sangüesa CENER facilities where the excavation to install the MOSAIC prototype has been started. Thank you to CENER for the excellent meeting organisation and for the preparation of this successful meeting!
MOSAIC Coordinator Cristobal Villasante will present MOSAIC Concept at the MSLOOP workshop at the “MSLOOP 2.0: Key element for the new solar thermal energy plants” scheduled for the 9th July 2019 in Madrid. MOSAIC will have the possibility to share their experience with other sister projects in line with the clustering activities developed in the H2020 CSP clustering framework. More information about the workshop are available here.
We are glad to announce that MOSAIC Consortium has created a ZENODO repository tools for each peer-review publications, oral presentations and public deliverables. The MOSAIC Community in Zenodo is available though this link: https://zenodo.org/deposit?page=1&size=20
MOSAIC consortium will participate at the Next generation of Concentrated Solar Power technologies workshop in the framework of the Sustainable Places 2019 conference. Fabrizio Perrotta (AMIRES Project and Product manager) will present the innovative MOSAIC Fixed hemispherical semi-Fresnel concentrators concept plant to the clustering workshop organised by sister project NEXTOWER. Programme of workshop is available here.
MOSAIC External Advisory Board and M24 meeting has been held in Prague at the Technology Center on 6th, 7th and 8th of November 2018. First day was dedicated to the EAB meeting with other EAB Members Mr. Juan Ignacio Burgaleta (Independent consultant, ex SENER), Marcel Bias (ESTELA), Jesús Fernández (PSA-CIEMAT), Gilles Guigan (Auroville). EAB members had the chance to been updated on the project status and they provide excellent recommendations in person and through a specific questionnaire. Second day was appointed to the technical WPs parallel sessions and the presentation to their solutions. Third day was dedicated to the prototype implementation, administrative, dissemination and exploitation activities. Next project meeting will be host by in Aalborg CSP in Denmark at the beginning of April 2019.
The community of Auroville in India hosted Cristobal Villasante (MOSAIC Coordinator) and Iñigo Pagola (researcher) in order to study in detail system operation based on fixed spherical concentrators as the MOSAIC concept is. The system in India has been operating in a daily basis for 18 years providing steam at 150ºC for cooking menus for 1000 people every day. The system used Terminol 66 as HTF during the first years but for the last 10 years they have been producing saturated steam at 2 bars directly at the receiver. The operation of the system along a day can be seen in this video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ixy719TNRcY.
MOSAIC Consortium wants to thank the Auroville community for sharing their knowledge.
